RESUMEN

A new xanthone, allanxanthone F (1), and 10 known compounds were isolated from the ethanol extract of Garcinia bracteata. The structure of compound 1 was elucidated based on spectroscopic methods (UV, IR, HR-ESI-MS, and NMR). In addition, compounds 1-9 were assessed for their anti-inflammatory activities based on the expression of nitric oxide (NO) levels on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW264.7 macrophages, and compounds 1-3, 4 and 6-9 suggested potential anti-inflammatory activities.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Accurate species delimitation is fundamental for testing evolutionary theory and provides essential implications for conservation management. The arctic-alpine genus Saxifraga L. (Saxifragaceae) is taxonomically complex and many species have not been critically assessed. The taxonomic and phylogenetic status of Saxifraga lancangensis Y.Y.Qian, considered as a synonym of Saxifraga mengtzeana Engl. & Irmsch. in previous studies, is re-evaluated in light of new evidence presented here. RESULTS: Evidence from morphological comparison and sequencing of plastid genome indicate that S. lancangensis belongs to Saxifraga sect. Irregulares Haw., and is closely related to Saxifraga geifolia Balf.f., and S. mengtzeana. However, S. lancangensis can be diagnosed by its petals with red and clawless base, leaf blade orbicular and leaf margin shallowly dentate. CONCLUSIONS: The morphological and molecular evidence support the resurrection of S. lancangensis as a distinct species. An updated morphological description based on protologue and fresh material, diagnostic characters, and original photographs of the resurrected species are presented.

RESUMEN

A new species of Papaveraceae, Corydalis sunhangii, in the section Trachycarpae, is described and illustrated from Nyingchi City, Xizang, China. The new species has some resemblance to Corydalis kingdonis, but differs by radical leaves prominent, usually several, blade tripinnate (vs. insignificant, few, blade bi- to triternate); cauline leaf usually one, much smaller than radical leaves, usually situated in lower half of stem (vs. usually two, larger than radical leaves, concentrated in upper third of stem); racemes densely 13-35-flowered (vs. rather lax, 4-11-flowered); claw of lower petal shallowly saccate (vs. very prominently and deeply saccate); capsule oblong, with raised lines of dense papillae (vs. broadly obovoid, smooth). Phylogenetic analysis, based on 68 protein-coding plastid genes of 49 samples, shows that C. sunhangii is not closely related to any hitherto described species, which is consistent with our morphological analysis.

RESUMEN

AIMS: Determine the wheat rhizosphere competence of Trichoderma gamsii strain A5MH and in planta suppression of the Pythium root and Fusarium crown rot pathogens Globisporangium irregulare and Fusarium pseudograminearum. METHODS AND RESULTS: Wheat was continuously cropped (eight years) at a minimum tillage, low growing season rainfall (GSR ≤ 170 mm) site shown as highly conducive to Pythium root and Fusarium crown rots. Root isolation frequency (RIF) and qPCR were used to determine the rhizosphere dynamics of strain A5MH and the target pathogens at tillering, grain harvest, and in postharvest stubble over the final 2 years. Strain A5MH actively colonized the wheat rhizosphere throughout both growing seasons, had high root abundance at harvest [log 4.5 genome copies (GC) g-1] and persisted in standing stubble for at least 293-d postinoculation. Globisporangium irregulare was most abundant in roots at tillering, whereas F. pseudograminearum was only abundant at harvest and up to 9-fold greater in the drier, second year (GSR 105 mm). Strain A5MH decreased RIF of both pathogens by up to 40%, root abundance of G. irregulare by 100-fold, and F. pseudogaminearum by 700-fold, but was ineffective against crown rot in the second year when pathogen abundance was >log 6.0 GC g-1 root. Strain A5MH increased crop emergence and tillering biomass by up to 40%. CONCLUSIONS: Further trials are required to determine if the A5MH-induced pathogen suppression translates to yield improvements in higher rainfall regions where non-cereal rotations reduce crown rot inoculum.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: As a long-term chronic disease, Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients' quality of life is affected by both themselves and his/ her close relatives, requiring comprehensive support from family members to ensure that patients are able to manage disease. The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between caregivers' sense of coherence, caregiver competence, and T2DM patients' quality of life, as well as to explore the factors affecting patients with T2DM patients. METHODS: This investigation was a cross-sectional study. Between October 2022 and July 2023, 392 participant-caregiver dyads from two hospitals in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, were researched. Participants were investigated by General Characteristics Questionnaire, Modified Barthel Index (MBI), Diabetes Specific Quality of Life Scale (DSQLS), Sense of Coherence scale-13 (SOC-13), and Family Caregiver Task Inventory (FCTI). Data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 25. Univariate and multivariate linear regression analyses were used to identify the independent factors associated with the quality of life of elderly patients with T2DM. RESULTS: The average score of T2DM quality of life was 61.14 (SD = 7.37), quality of life was negatively correlated with sense of coherence (r=-0.344, P<0.01) and positively correlated with caregiver competence (r = 0.522, P<0.01). Furthermore, we found that age, disease duration, activities of daily living scores, sense of coherence, and caregiver competence scores were the main predictors of quality of life (R2 = 0.375, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: This study found that high levels of sense of coherence and caregiver competence in family caregivers were associated with better quality of life for patients. Furthermore, we also found that good quality of life was also related to younger age, shorter disease duration, and less dependence. This study offers a feasible example for policymakers to improve the quality of life from the perspective of T2DM patients' family caregivers.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Children in households experiencing poverty are disproportionately exposed to maltreatment. Income support policies have been associated with reductions in child abuse and neglect. The advance child tax credit (CTC) payments may reduce child maltreatment by improving the economic security of some families. No national studies have examined the association between advance CTC payments and child abuse and neglect. This study examines the association between the advance CTC payments and child abuse and neglect-related contacts to the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline. METHODS: A time series study of contacts to the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline between January 2019 and December 2022 was used to examine the association between the payments and hotline contacts. An interrupted time series (ITS) exploiting the variation in the advance CTC payments was estimated using fixed effects. RESULTS: The CTC advance payments were associated with an immediate 13.8% (95% CI -17.5% to -10.0%) decrease in contacts to the hotline in the ITS model. Following the expiration of the advance CTC payments, there was a significant and gradual 0.1% (95% CI +0.0% to +0.2%) daily increase in contacts. Sensitivity analyses found significant reductions in contacts following each payment, however, the reductions were associated with the last three of the six total payments. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest the advance CTC payments may reduce child abuse and neglect-related hotline contacts and continue to build the evidence base for associations between income-support policies and reductions in child abuse and neglect.

RESUMEN

Green tea is popular among consumers because of its high nutritional value and unique flavor. There is often a strong correlation among the type of tea, its quality level and the price. Therefore, the rapid identification of tea types and the judgment of tea quality grades are particularly important. In this work, a novel sensor array based on nanozyme with polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity is proposed for the identification of tea polyphenols (TPs) and Chinese green tea. The absorption spectra changes of the nanozyme and its substrate in the presence of different TPs were first investigated. The feature spectra were scientifically selected using genetic algorithm (GA), and then a sensor array with 15 sensing units (5 wavelengths × 3 time) was constructed. Combined with the support vector machine (SVM) discriminative model, the discriminative rate of this sensor array was 100% for different concentrations of typical TPs in Chinese green tea with a detection limit of 5 µM. In addition, the identification of different concentrations of the same tea polyphenols and mixed tea polyphenols have also been achieved. Based on the above study, we further developed a facile and efficient new method for the category differentiation and adulteration identification of green tea, and the accuracy of this array was 96.88% and 100% for eight types of green teas and different adulteration ratios of Biluochun, respectively. This work has significance for the rapid discrimination of green tea brands and adulteration.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Helmet use helps prevent severe and fatal head and brain injuries from bicycle, rollerblade, and skateboard crashes. This study explores the prevalence of self-reported helmet use among middle school students while bicycling, skateboarding, and rollerblading. METHODS: Data from the Middle School Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) for selected states were analyzed. Self-reported prevalence (frequency) of helmet use while bicycling, rollerblading, or skateboarding and other variables (sex, grade level, and race/ethnicity) are reported. RESULTS: The overall prevalence of rarely or never wearing a helmet while bicycling among middle school students in selected states was 68.6%; decreasing from 71.7% in 2013 to 67.1% in 2019. The overall prevalence of rarely or never wearing a helmet while rollerblading or skateboarding in middle school students in selected states was 74.6%; decreasing from 76.4% in 2013 to 73.5% in 2019. Students in 7th and 8th grade and students of non-Hispanic race/ethnicity had significantly higher odds of rarely or never wearing a helmet while bicycling or while rollerblading and skateboarding than students in 6th grade and non-Hispanic White students. CONCLUSIONS: While helmet use among middle school students improved over time, overall helmet use during bicycling, rollerblading, and skateboarding remained low. These estimates illustrate the continued call for universal implementation of helmet use efforts among kids using established strategies. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS: Future research on helmet use among youth who rollerblade and skateboard, as well as multi-pronged efforts to promote helmet use among middle schoolers who bicycle, skateboard, and rollerblade (inclusive of education, helmet distribution, and social marketing techniques, as well as the provision of helmets at no-cost) may be beneficial for addressing perceived risks for injury and other barriers.

RESUMEN

Pesticide resistance inflicts significant economic losses on a global scale each year. To address this pressing issue, substantial efforts have been dedicated to unraveling the resistance mechanisms, particularly the newly discovered microbiota-derived pesticide resistance in recent decades. Previous research has predominantly focused on investigating microbiota-derived pesticide resistance from the perspective of the pest host, associated microbes, and their interactions. However, a gap remains in the quantification of the contribution by the pest host and associated microbes to this resistance. In this study, we investigated the toxicity of phoxim by examining one resistant and one sensitive Delia antiqua strain. We also explored the critical role of associated microbiota and host in conferring phoxim resistance. In addition, we used metaproteomics to compare the proteomic profile of the two D. antiqua strains. Lastly, we investigated the activity of detoxification enzymes in D. antiqua larvae and phoxim-degrading gut microbes, and assessed their respective contributions to phoxim resistance in D. antiqua. The results revealed contributions by D. antiqua and its gut bacteria to phoxim resistance. Metaproteomics showed that the two D. antiqua strains expressed different protein profiles. Detoxifying enzymes including Glutathione S-transferases, carboxylesterases, Superoxide Dismutase, Glutathione Peroxidase, and esterase B1 were overexpressed in the resistant strain and dominated in differentially expressed insect proteins. In addition, organophosphorus hydrolases combined with a group of ABC type transporters were overexpressed in the gut microbiota of resistant D. antiqua compared to the sensitive strain. 85.2% variation of the larval mortality resulting from phoxim treatment could be attributed to the combined effects of proteins from both from gut bacteria and D. antiqua, while the individual contribution of proteins from gut bacteria or D. antiqua alone accounted for less than 10% of the variation in larval mortality caused by phoxim. The activity of the overexpressed insect enzymes and the phoxim-degrading activity of gut bacteria in resistant D. antiqua larvae were further confirmed. This work enhances our understanding of microbiota-derived pesticide resistance and illuminates new strategies for controlling pesticide resistance in the context of insect-microbe mutualism.

RESUMEN

The purpose of this study was to study the relationship between maternal ABO blood groups and pregnancy outcomes. A total of 29,658 couples in Dongguan were selected as the research subjects. We obtained data on ABO blood groups and pregnancy outcomes and explored the relationship between them through log binomial regression and survival analysis. Compared to mothers with type B blood, the RR of foetal stillbirth in mothers with type A blood was 2.87 (95% CI: 1.70, 4.85), and compared to mothers with type O blood, the RR was 1.72 (95% CI: 1.16, 2.55). Compared with foetuses of other three blood type mothers, foetuses of A blood type mothers have a higher median birth weight (P = 0.011). Other pregnancy outcomes, including preterm birth, macrosomia, caesarean section, multiple births, birth defects, low birth weight, foetal sex, gestational days, birth length, and APGAR score, were not significantly different. The relationship between maternal ABO blood type and pregnancy outcomes was not affected by paternal blood type. More studies are needed to confirm these results.

What is already known on this subject? The relationship between blood type and disease is being increasingly studied. With regard to the relationship between maternal blood type and pregnancy outcomes, some studies have focused on people undergoing in vitro fertilisation. There are few reports on healthy women. What do the results of this study add? Compared to mothers with type B blood, the RR of foetal stillbirth in mothers with type A blood was 2.87 (95% CI: 1.70, 4.85), and compared to mothers with type O blood, the RR was 1.72 (95% CI: 1.16, 2.55). Compared with foetuses of other three blood type mothers, foetuses of A blood type mothers have a higher median birth weight (P = 0.011).What are the implications of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? This study is the first to explore the relationship between blood type and pregnancy outcomes in healthy women. These results can provide some clues for the study of the mechanism of pregnancy outcomes.

RESUMEN

Tomato, as a typical greenhouse crop, is commonly first planted as seedlings in a variety of substrates before being transplanted into soil. However, there is rare research on the characteristics of the bacterial community in tomato roots under this planting mode. In this study, tomatoes were planted in pots containing three different cultivation media, including soil and two types of substrates in a greenhouse, followed by a transplanting treatment. After collecting tomato root samples, high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatic analysis were used to compare the differences in bacterial diversity and functions between tomato roots before and after transplanting in different cultivation media. In total, 702776 sequences were obtained, and the OTUs were belonging to 109 genera, 58 families, 41 orders, 14 classes, and 12 phyla. Among the three cultivation media, the ß-diversity was significant, and there was a slight difference in bacterial species diversity along with a large difference in their abundance at the genus level. Soil and both substrates had 79 bacterial genera in common, these genera accounted for 68.70%, 76.70%, and 71.17% of the total genera found in the soil, substrate 1, and substrate 2, respectively. After being transplanted from the two substrates to the soil, the bacterial community structure and abundance exhibited similarities with those found in the soil. Furthermore, based on microbial function prediction, the microbial communities in the two-substrate environment demonstrated a greater potential for promoting growth, while the microbial communities in the soil exhibited a greater tendency to exert their antibacterial potential. Our findings offer theoretical support for the creation of artificially reconstructed microbial communities in greenhouse cultivation.

RESUMEN

The genus Corydalis, with ca. 530 species, has long been considered taxonomically challenging because of its great variability. Previous molecular analyses, based on a few molecular markers and incomplete taxonomic sampling, were clearly inadequate to delimit sections and subgenera. We have performed phylogenetic analyses of Corydalis and related taxa, using 65 shared protein-coding plastid genes from 313 accessions (including 280 samples of ca. 226 species of Corydalis) and 152 universal low-copy nuclear genes from 296 accessions (including 271 samples of Corydalis) covering all 42 previously recognized sections and five independent "series". Phylogenetic trees were inferred using Bayesian Inference and Maximum Likelihood. Eight selected morphological characters were estimated using ancestral state reconstructions. Results include: (i) of the three subgenera of Corydalis, two are fully supported by both the plastid and nuclear data; the third, subg. Cremnocapnos, is weakly supported by plastid DNA only, whereas in the nuclear data the two included sections form successive outgroups to the rest of the genus; (ii) among all 42 sections and five "series", 25 sections and one "series" are resolved as monophyletic in both data sets; (iii) the common ancestor of Corydalis is likely to be a perennial plant with a taproot, yellow flowers with a short saccate spur, linear fruits with recurved fruiting pedicels, and seeds with elaiosomes; (iv) we provide a new classification of Corydalis with four subgenera (of which subg. Bipapillatae is here newly described), 39 sections, 16 of which are consistent with the previous classification, 16 sections have been recircumscribed, one section has been reinstated and six new sections are established. Characters associated with lifespan, underground structures, floral spur, fruit and elaiosomes are important for the recognition of subgenera and sections. These new phylogenetic analyses combined with ancestral character reconstructions uncovered previously unrecognized relationships, and greatly improved our understanding of the evolution of the genus.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: To explore the relationship between a history of induced abortion and follow-up preterm birth. METHODS: We performed a retrospective cohort study of 27,176 women aged 19 to 48 years old in the city of Dongguan. Participants were divided into two groups according to the history of induced abortion. We used log-binomial regression to estimate adjusted risk ratios of preterm birth (gestation at less than 37 weeks) and early preterm birth (gestation at less than 34 weeks) for women with a history of induced abortion. Four models adjusted for different baseline data were used to verify the stability of the results. We also performed a subgroup analysis and mediation effect analysis to control for the influence of confounding factors and analyzed the relationship between the number of abortions and subsequent preterm birth. RESULTS: Our study included 2,985 women who had undergone a prior induced abortion. Women who reported having a prior induced abortion were more likely to have preterm births before 37 weeks and 34 weeks, with risk ratios of 1.18 (95% CI 1.02-1.36) and 1.65 (95% CI 1.23-2.21), respectively. The above associations were stable in all models. We also found that a history of induced abortion was independently associated with a higher risk of preterm birth and early preterm birth in the subgroups. After controlling for the indirect effect of demographic data, the direct effect of abortion history on follow-up preterm delivery was still significantly different. The higher the number of abortions, the greater the risk of subsequent preterm birth. CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that induced abortion increases the risk of subsequent preterm birth.

RESUMEN

In the Flora of China account of Saxifraga mengtzeana Engl. & Irmsch., eight synonyms were attributed to it and one variant, recognized as Saxifraga epiphylla Gornall & Ohba, was split from it. This study reevaluates the taxonomic status of some of the synonyms and of the segregated species in light of new evidence presented here. Morphological and molecular evidence demonstrate that collections from northwestern Yunnan and Sichuan are genetically differentiated from those in southeastern Yunnan and neighboring Guangxi. Observations in the field and in cultivation show that the peltate petiole attachment diagnostic of S. mengtzeana var. peltifolia Engl. & Irmsch. is developmentally labile. Similar observations combined with molecular data show that viviparous phenotypes, formerly treated as S. epiphylla, although largely under genetic control, occur sporadically throughout the ranges of both northern and southern taxa. Collections from northwestern Yunnan and Sichuan are best recognized as Saxifraga geifolia Balf.f., whereas those from southeastern Yunnan and neighboring Guangxi are S. mengtzeana. Peltate-leaved variants of the latter are given no status and are relegated to complete synonymy. Viviparous phenotypes of S. mengtzeana and S. geifolia are recognized at the rank of forma.

RESUMEN

Planting a deep-rooted green manure (GM) (more than 1.0 m depth) greatly improves soil fertility and reduces the loss of nutrients. However, few studies have examined the response of soil nitrogen (N) distribution in the soil profile and subsoil N recovery to the long-term planting and incorporation of deep-rooted GM. Based on a 12-year (2009−2021) experiment of spring maize-winter GMs rotation in the North China Plain (NCP), this study investigated the effects of different GMs that were planted over the winter, including ryegrass (RrG, Lolium L.) (>1.0 m), Orychophragmus violaceus (OrV, Orychophragmus violaceus L.) (>0.8 m), and hairy vetch (VvR, Vicia villosa Roth.) (>1.0 m), on the spring maize yield, N distribution in the deep soil profile, N use efficiencies, functional gene abundances involving soil nitrification−denitrification processes and N2O production. Compared with the winter fallow, the maize yield significantly increased by 11.6% after 10 years of green manuring, and water storage in 0−200 cm soil profile significantly increased by 5.0−17.1% at maize seedling stage. The total N content in the soil layer at 0−90 cm increased by 15.8−19.7%, while the nitrate content in the deep soil layer (80−120 cm) decreased by 17.8−39.6%. Planting GM significantly increased the N recovery rate (10.4−32.7%) and fertilizer N partial productivity (4.6−13.3%). Additionally, the topsoil N functional genes (ammonia-oxidizing archaea amoA, ammonia-oxidizing bacterial amoA, nirS, nirK) significantly decreased without increasing N2O production potential. These results indicated that long-term planting of the deep-rooted GM effectively reduce the accumulation of nitrates in the deep soil and improve the crop yield and N use efficiencies, demonstrating a great value in green manuring to improve the fertility of the soil, increase the crop yield, and reduce the risk of N loss in NCP.

RESUMEN

Although opioids are useful narcotic analgesics in clinical settings, their misuse and addiction in the United States of America and other countries are rapidly increasing. Therefore, the development of abuse-deterrent formulations is an urgent issue. We herein investigated how to select the ratio of an opioid and the opioid receptor antagonist, naloxone in abuse-deterrent formulations for mice. The conditioned place preference (CPP) test was used to evaluate the rewarding effects of abused drugs. The opioids morphine (30 µmol/kg), oxycodone (3 µmol/kg), fentanyl (0.4 µmol/kg), and buprenorphine (0.5 µmol/kg) significantly induced place preference in mice. We also examined the optimal ratio of naloxone and opioids to inhibit the rewarding effects of the latter. Naloxone (3-5 µmol/kg) effectively inhibited place preference induced by the opioids tested. We calculated theoretical drug doses that exerted the same pharmacodynamic effects based on two parameters: µ-opioid receptor binding affinity and blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability. Theoretical doses were very close to the drug doses at which mice showed place preference. Therefore, the CPP test is useful as a behavioral method for evaluating abuse-deterrent formulations of opioids mixed with an antagonist. The ratio of naloxone with opioids, at which mice did not show place preference, may be an effective index for developing abuse-deterrent formulations. Ratios may be calculated for other opioids based on µ-opioid receptor binding affinity and BBB permeability.

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Few studies of intimate partner violence and health outcomes include multiple forms of intimate partner victimization, so this paper sought to examine health associations with intimate partner violence (IPV), including sexual, physical, stalking, and psychological forms, as well as polyvictimization. METHODS: Data are from the 2010-2012 National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, an on-going national random-digit-dial telephone survey of U.S. adults. There were 41,174 respondents. Logistic regression was used to compute prevalence ratios for any IPV, adjusted for demographics and non-IPV victimization. For individual forms of IPV, prevalence ratios were further adjusted for other forms of IPV. Tests for linear trend in poly-victimization were performed. RESULTS: Any IPV was associated with all health conditions for both sexes with a few exceptions for males. Female penetrative sexual victimization and male stalking victimization were associated with the most health conditions. For each health condition, a significant linear trend indicated that as the number of forms of IPV experienced increased, prevalence of each health condition increased, with a few exceptions for males. CONCLUSIONS: It is important for service providers to screen for multiple forms of IPV, including psychological aggression, because individual forms or polyvictimization may have unique and cumulative health effects.

RESUMEN

Axenic insects are obtained from sterile artificial rearing systems using sterile media. These insects, characterized by their small size, short growth cycle, and low feed requirements, are ideal for studying the relationship between microorganisms and hosts. The gut microbiota significantly influences the physiological characteristics of insect hosts, and introducing specific strains into axenic insects provides a method for verifying gut microbial functions. Delia antiqua, a threatening pest in the order Diptera, family Anthomyiidae, and genus Delia, primarily feeds on onions, garlic, leeks, and other vegetables of the family Liliaceae. Its larvae feed on the bulbs, causing rotting, wilting, and even death of entire plants. By rearing axenic larvae, follow-up studies can be conducted to observe the effects of intestinal microflora on the growth and development of D. antiqua. Unlike the method involving antibiotic elimination of associated microbes, this article presents a low-cost and high-efficiency approach to raising axenic D. antiqua. After surface sterilization of D. antiqua eggs, half-fermented sterile diets were used to raise larvae, and the axenic state of D. antiqua was verified through culture-dependent and culture-independent assays. In conclusion, the combination of insect egg sterilization and the preparation of sterile diets for larval culture has enabled the development of an efficient and simple method for obtaining axenic D. antiqua. This method provides a powerful approach to studying insect-microflora interactions.

RESUMEN

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of ultrasound-guided anterior quadratus lumborum block (QLB) at the L2 level in patients undergoing laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. Methods: Patients who were 18-70 years old with an American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status of 1-2 and were scheduled for elective laparoscopic partial nephrectomy were recruited into the cluster randomized controlled trial. Sixty-three patients were randomly allocated to receive QLB (group Q, n = 32) or no block (group C, n = 31). The patients were not masked to the group allocations. The postoperative follower was blinded to the group allocations. All patients received total intravenous anesthesia, the same multimodal analgesic regimen, and rescue analgesia when needed. The primary outcome was perioperative cumulative sufentanil consumption. Results: 30 patients in group Q and 29 patients in group C were included in the statistical analysis. Block-related complications were not found in this study. Sufentanil consumption during the perioperative period (155.41 [19.58] vs 119.37 [12.41] µg, p < 0.001) and sufentanil dosage during surgery and 0-6 h, 6-12 h, and 12-24 h after surgery were lower in group Q than in group C, while 24-48 h after surgery was similar between both groups. The median sensory blockade area in group Q was T9-L1. Comparison of invasive blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR) before and after skin incision in group C was statistically significant, but there was no significant difference in group Q. Both at rest and during activity, numerical rating scale (NRS) scores and the incidence of rescue analgesia were lower in group Q at any time point after surgery. The incidences of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), time from postoperative to discharge, postoperative recovery quality, or anesthesia satisfaction were similar between the two groups. Conclusions: Anterior QLB at the L2 level can reduce the perioperative dosage of sufentanil and the degree of postoperative pain in patients undergoing laparoscopic partial nephrectomy, but it did not improve postoperative recovery quality and anesthesia satisfaction.

RESUMEN

The bacterium Pseudomonas sp. strain JP233 has been reported to efficiently solubilize sparingly soluble inorganic phosphate, promote plant growth and significantly reduce phosphorus (P) leaching loss from soil. The production of 2-keto gluconic acid (2KGA) by strain JP233 was identified as the main active metabolite responsible for phosphate solubilization. However, the genetic basis of phosphate solubilization and plant-growth promotion remained unclear. As a result, the genome of JP233 was sequenced and analyzed in this study. The JP233 genome consists of a circular chromosome with a size of 5,617,746 bp and a GC content of 62.86%. No plasmids were detected in the genome. There were 5097 protein-coding sequences (CDSs) predicted in the genome. Phylogenetic analyses based on genomes of related Pseudomonas spp. identified strain JP233 as Pseudomonas asiatica. Comparative pangenomic analysis among 9 P. asiatica strains identified 4080 core gene clusters and 111 singleton genes present only in JP233. Genes associated with 2KGA production detected in strain JP233, included those encoding glucose dehydrogenase, pyrroloquinoline quinone and gluoconate dehydrogenase. Genes associated with mechanisms of plant-growth promotion and nutrient acquisition detected in JP233 included those involved in IAA biosynthesis, ethylene catabolism and siderophore production. Numerous genes associated with other properties beneficial to plant growth were also detected in JP233, included those involved in production of acetoin, 2,3-butanediol, trehalose, and resistance to heavy metals. This study provides the genetic basis to elucidate the plant-growth promoting and bio-remediation properties of strain JP233 and its potential applications in agriculture and industry.
